About the company and the project
CMPL is a leader of automotive logistics. As one of the biggest companies in Poland in this sector, for 28 years it has been continuously supporting producers and importers of new cars, providing them with solutions at the highest level. CMPL employs 800 workers in Poland. It has 4 modern distribution centres with the total surface area of 82 hectares, capable of storing 35,000 cars simultaneously. Today we are visiting the centre in Mszczonów.
Within the area of 350,000 square meters in Mszczonów, CMPL is capable to store 11,000 vehicles, while the production surface area is 7,000 square meters.
The infrastructure of each of the centres ensures support of deliveries by road and railway transport. Inside the technical halls of CMPL vehicles are washed and outfitted with customized components and undergo pre-delivery inspections (PDI). CMPL improved its processes by implementing Qguar APS and Qguar MES systems that support planning and scheduling of outfitting works and manage production works.

In our distribution centres in Poland, we realize specialized technical services based on manufacturers’ technological instructions. Varying clients’ guidelines and introduction of new types of services require us to constantly adapt. Therefore, flexibility of our IT systems is so important. In this domain, we find support of Quantum MES and APS systems that, thanks to their open interfaces, allows access to data related to each performed operation.
Vehicle deliveries
A part of automobiles is delivered to CMPL by railway transport. It is a quick and efficient method of transporting bigger batches of vehicles simultaneously. The company has its own railway siding with a direct access road to the parking yard. Road transport is the second delivery channel that takes advantage of car carrier trailers, also called car transporters. This method of transport provides higher flexibility in case of smaller volumes and higher efficiency in realizing atypical transport orders. Vehicles delivered to the centre are directed to marked parking spaces and CMPL commences to realize clients’ orders. From this moment on, Qguar APS and MES systems support a series of crucial tasks.
Work scheduling
Each order is directed to the Qguar APS system that supports planners in developing a detailed schedule of all operations. Thanks to an interactive Gantt chart, a planner has full control over the course of tasks realization, sees available resources and instantly identifies potential conflicts. Qguar APS automatically takes employees qualifications and tools availability into account, which allows one to develop a precise and realistic schedule that forms the foundation of further production stages.

APS supports us in operation planning, while allowing for our specific requirements. When the system develops a schedule of works for employees, it checks both the availability of accessories and duty rosters, as well as employees’ qualifications. For me as a planner, it is important to be able to check at any moment the status of operation progress or the reason for its interruption. Having implemented Qguar we have improved planning efficiency, we identify faster the risks of resource shortages, we have reduced the stock levels of accessories and we have constant access to up-to-date reports tailored to our needs.
Assembly management
Qguar MES starts management of outfitting works with verification of personnel’s know-how related to a specific process. Once an operator gets acquainted with a detailed instruction, called “bulletin”, he confirms this fact in the system. Then, successive outfitting operations are realized, from accessory installation to vehicle customization according to clients’ requirements. Each step is recorded and reported in Qguar MES and the data concerning operations are collected in the system, which allows for their successive analysis and process enhancement. The MES system allows processes to be precisely synchronised, while each operation is realised in compliance with the highest standards offered to clients by CMPL.

The MES system is our day-to-day ally in the technical department, especially where we fit different types of accessories. Each stage is registered by employees in the system, which allows us to check the actual outfitting time. And finally, we have the function that has transferred us directly into 21st century – namely, bulletins. It is a kind of our virtual “postman” that delivers the most recent process changes and updates. Hard copy documentation? No, thanks! CMPL is making towards “green” solutions and digitalization.
Production Logistics
Qguar MES also supports production logistics in CMPL. It does so by supplying indispensable components and materials to outfitting posts. The system generates picking orders for a specific customization task and sends them to the warehouse, ensuring full availability of materials before works commence in the shop floor. Thus, the warehouse and outfitting shop floors operate in a synchronised manner, while each stage is realized efficiently and without delays.
Quality control and final assembly
Thanks to modern technology enhancements, CMPL can focus on the quality of services. Each process is monitored and services are realized in compliance with the highest standards. To meet clients’ expectations, automobiles undergo meticulous quality and safety control; they are thoroughly washed and checked punctiliously to ensure they reach the client in ideal condition.
